Stewardship & Services

The preservation of
Newton County history.

Since 1880, the Ford family and the subsequent Association have maintained these grounds as a sanctuary of memory and local heritage.

Availability & Documentation

The Ford Cemetery serves as a resting place for the community, established on the land of J. D. and Ida J. Ford. We assist families in documenting burials and locating historical sites, including the earliest documented graves from the late 19th century.

  • Coordination with the Board of Trustees for site selection.
  • Documentation of grave locations and historical records.
  • Liaison for family genealogists and historical researchers.

Grounds Maintenance

Community Funded Stewardship

The Ford Chapel & Cemetery Association depends solely on donations to maintain the chapel and grounds. Transitioning from a scraped earth cemetery to its current landscape, our work ensures the permanence of the school site, the 1910 Methodist Episcopal Church structure, and the graveyard.

"The association, organized in 1961, maintains the cemetery as well as the chapel and school site."
